What is the Value of Corazon’s Cardiovascular Accreditation?
Corazon is known for accrediting cardiovascular programs of all sizes throughout the United States. Unlike other accrediting bodies, however, Corazon Accreditation is more than just a means to achieve state requirements. We are a strategic partner, one whose value comes from a collaborative and consultative approach to accreditation. Simply put, our approach to cardiovascular accreditation is ultimately designed to make our clients national and market leaders, and we’ll be there with you every step of the way. Here’s a look into how we do it.
Ongoing Data Analysis
One of the key components of Corazon’s accreditation process is an ongoing quarterly analysis of the accredited facility’s national registry outcomes data. The purpose of the quarterly data review is to collaborate with clients as a third-party partner, monitoring their performance and identifying opportunities for improvement within their program, even IF said performance is up to state standard.
National data registries strive to improve the quality of care by giving programs a benchmark to measure and compare their performance. Hospitals can see how they compare to national programs by looking at what percentile they fall into for each metric captured. The goal of our accredited programs is to strive to be well above the 50th percentile – performing higher than the 75th and 90th percentile of all other programs submitting to the registry
Performance Improvement
When conducting our quarterly analysis for clients, we generate a red, yellow, and green light dashboard to easily visualize how a client is performing in our defined critical metrics. If we recognize a trend, and the program falls below the 50th percentile in the same metric for more than two quarters, we request a Comprehensive Performance Improvement Plan (CPIP). A CPIP is an action plan that a Corazon Accredited program implements and executes to demonstrate improvement.
While completing the CPIP, programs take the time to dive deeper into their data to identify root causes of the issue. Corazon and the organization’s team then outline tangible goals for the program to achieve for improving their overall performance within the given metric. After the CPIP is submitted, the Corazon Accreditation team reconvenes with our clients to walk through an action plan and offer feedback/insights on how to use the data to initiate change within the organization.
Our Corazon accreditation clients find this collaborative relationship to be very insightful for measuring their program’s progress and identifying areas of opportunity in their program.
By becoming a Corazon-accredited program and participating in our collaborative quarterly data review process, your cardiovascular program can focus on providing high-quality patient care, ultimately improving your outcomes and achieving clinical success. Now that’s the value of Corazon Accreditation.
