Transforming Stroke Outcomes: The Power of Adding Thrombectomy

Wednesday, May 14, 2025
12 PM ET

In 2022, stroke still accounted for 1 of every 20 deaths in the US and the leading cause of disability, but can we do more to improve those statistics?  The answer is yes!  Clinical trials continue to validate the significant benefits of Thrombectomy when available for the treatment of stroke, with the most recent trials including patients with larger core infarcts, lower ASPECT scores, and advanced age, demonstrating the growing potential to save lives and reduce disabilities.  While LVOs only account for approximately 20 to 30% of all ischemic strokes, they account for 60% of all disability and 90% of all ischemic stroke mortality. Endovascular Thrombectomy can change those outcomes.

With so much potential for quality outcome improvement, society-sponsored advocacy is proving very successful in influencing legislative changes, including mandating suspected Large Vessel Occlusion (LVO) patients be taken to the nearest Thrombectomy Capable Center in many states. Even where legislative changes have not yet occurred, many EMS providers have begun adopting these protocols. The potential loss of this inbound EMS traffic may affect your bottom line.

Join our experts for a complimentary webinar that will:

  • Review Thrombectomy service and its potential effect on current stroke outcomes
  • Explore the need for more thrombectomy-capable centers in the US
  • Examine current efforts to change legislation to route LVO patients to Thrombectomy Capable Centers
  • Gain an insight into the financial implications of developing an interventional stroke program
  • Client Spotlight featuring Amanda Werner, Stroke Program Manager for UCHealth Northern Region, who will share the inspiring journey of UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies to becoming a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center. Amanda will discuss the challenges they faced, the lessons they learned, and the positive impact their efforts have had on their community.

Organizations that have already completed the foundational work associated with a formal stroke program are often much better positioned for neuro-interventional program implementation than they perceive. Position your neuroscience program for future growth and success by adding Thrombectomy!
